Providing Assistance to Families, Children, Adolescents, and Individual Adults

Some needs call for help to prevent problems:

A low-income couple with a new baby and no extended family needs help to get access to safe housing and affordable child care.

Our Early Head Start Program provides extensive educational, social and health services for low-income families with infants and toddlers, and our Homelessness Prevention Program provides outreach workers to help achieve stable housing.

Other needs involve ongoing problems that call for age-appropriate treatment and support:

A 4-year-old and a 7-year-old are going to be removed from their home by the State if their mother cannot replace her pattern of neglect with competent parenting.

Our Child and Family Services provides assessments of what is contributing to each problem, and combinations of counseling, education, and support for parents and their children. As needed, we would work closely with the children’s schools to support them through the family crisis. And if substance abuse was a factor that was contributing to the parent’s neglect of the children, our clinicians with expertise is this area would be part of a team that works to assist the family with these problems.

A 17-year-old comes in for help after a near-fatal heroin overdose.

Our Substance Abuse Program provides comprehensive Adolescent Assessments, coordinates referrals to detoxification as needed, and offers a wide range of individual and group counseling, psycho-education, community support, and family therapy as needed

Still other needs involve problems of individual adults that call for assessment, and varied forms of treatment and support:

A 30-year-old has disrupted business in several neighborhood stores with angry warnings based on his delusions

A 45-year-old realtor is losing customers due to mood swings that are out of control.

A 58-year old bus driver is about to lose his job and be evicted after being overwhelmed by a combination of mental health and substance abuse problems.

Our Adult Clinical Services provide comprehensive assessments, and combinations of education and treatment that engage the client’s unique strengths and build skills that are needed to live safely in the community.
