Mystic Counseling Center While most of our services for children, adolescents, and families are provided in different sites than our services for adults, our Mystic site is designed for services to children, adolescents, families, and individual adults. It is located in the Mystic Public Housing Development, where the residents are families, and the location is a distinct neighborhood, with its own neighborhood school. Our Mystic Center is immediately adjacent to a Community Action Agency Head Start classroom, and an infant and toddler childcare center operated by another social service agency. It is close to a Community Activity Center which houses a Learning Center and a tenants advocacy program, the Welcome Project. The team that we provide in this setting works closely with the Housing Authority and these social service providers to address the needs of the ethnically- and linguistically-diverse population that lives there. Our services at this site include assessment, varied forms of counseling, and psychiatric medication for children, adolescents, families and individual adults. The team members include a team leader who is a Licensed Independent Social Worker, two Licensed Clinical Social Workers, a psychiatrist, and a paraprofessional outreach worker. Referrals for services at this site include self-referrals by residents there, and referrals from the local school, the Housing Authority, pediatric providers, and other social service agencies. Decisions about which clients should be served by the Mystic team are made through collaboration between the clinicians who coordinate intake of children and adults for the whole agency and the Mystic Team Leader.
